Ose Shalom

A prayer for peace

Ose Shalom is a prayer for peace. We sing it at the end of Friday night prayers, at celebrations, and whenever we gather together. Its words are simple: “May the One who makes peace in the heavens make peace for us”

In the song, we ask for peace not only for ourselves, but for everyone around us. There’s something beautiful about that simple request, especially when peace can feel like such an enormous, almost impossible thing to ask for. And yet we keep singing it, hoping that somehow, peace will find its way into our lives.

I wanted to make Ose Shalom very simply: with my voice and my trombone, leaving space for the words to breathe. It’s part of my upcoming album, The Courage to Pray, a collection of minimalist Jewish prayers for uncertain times.

I’m making this album independently, and I’d love for you to be part of making it happen. If these prayers mean something to you, you can make a contribution or pre-order a copy, and help me make this album a reality.
