Nani VAzana - Sings Ladino
At the iconic Jerusalem synagogue Prague
Wednesday 18 June 19:00
Online tickets: 300CZ / 12EUR
Experiencing Nani Vazana perform Ladino music in the Jerusalem Synagogue in Prague is a profound act of cultural reconnection. While Prague is often associated with its Ashkenazi Jewish history, the performance evokes the often-overlooked Sephardic heritage that also forms part of the city’s Jewish tapestry. The Jerusalem Synagogue itself—though built in the early 20th century—is a symbol of Prague’s vibrant Jewish past, and hosting a Ladino concert within its walls breathes life into centuries-old melodies that once echoed across the Jewish diaspora. Vazana’s voice becomes a bridge, reawakening Prague’s deeper, multifaceted Jewish roots and inviting all who listen to be part of this intimate revival.
With a ship’s-horn power voice & irresistible stage presence, Eurovision winner Nani Vazana breathes life into the endangered Ladino Language. Nani learned Ladino from her Moroccan grandmother in hiding, as her father forbade the language at home. Her songwriting fuses Sephardic fairytales with contemporary storytelling and the sounds of the marketplace with Flamenco drama. Vazana’s new album Ke Haber was documented for the Library of Congress, ranked #11 on the International World Music Chart and #13 on World Music Chart Europe 2022.
